I became a mother at the age of 30. Before that, I did not know a lot about babies and their needs. After my son was born, I searched many stores and online shops. Having a very sensitive and fragile baby boy, what I wanted was to be able to find natural baby clothes and shoes that didn’t contain artificial materials. Finding out that many of the products made for babies are containing synthetic materials and are artificially colored made me very shocked and frustrated. The few products that were organic and naturally colored were not affordable and too expensive.
In my quest for finding natural and affordable baby clothing, I started to think about producing my own. I founded Shawnee Baby Shoes in 2016. I was aware of a network of Anatolian women who hand knit natural products by using traditional ways. I contacted them and organized them to produce natural sheepskin baby shoes. Since then, our mission to bring you natural and handmade baby shoes continues to flourish and thrive every year. Helping babies start their lives in a healthy and comfortable way is our main goal. Our shoes are handmade in Turkey from real sheep leather and wool, and colored without any artificial dyes. Additionally, in 2019, we launched Shawnee Knitworks to produce hand knitted clothes and hats made from organic materials for all age groups and especially for the babies and the kids.
